The Heynes Name

It's thanks to William Munger "Bill" Heynes that the world was blessed with what Enzo Ferrari called the most beautiful car ever made.

As Jaguar's Chief Engineer and Technical Director, Bill Heynes developed the XK engine and persuaded Sir William Lyons to enter Le Mans. Five Jaguar victories followed. Between 1935 and 1970, he was responsible for the design and engineering of every Jaguar that left the factory.

Fifty years on, the third generation of the family carries forward the same standards. William Heynes Ltd is run by Bill's grandson — and operates with the precision the surname demands.

In the founder's words
The question I ask customers when discussing early E-Types is not "what year was your car made?" — but instead, "what week was your car made?"

What we do

Four disciplines, all in service of one thing — keeping these cars correct.

  1. i.

    Full Restorations

Comprehensive concours-level rebuilds. Cadmium plating, nickel plating, cellulose paint, period-correct fabrication. Whether you want the car factory-fresh or wearing its history honestly — both are honoured.

  2. ii.

    Maintenance

Engine, gearbox, carburettor, IRS and differential rebuilds. Trim, paint, wheels, tyres. MOTs and seasonal checks. Maintained to original factory standards by people who know which week your car left Browns Lane.

  3. iii.

    Pre-Purchase Consultation

Considering a car at auction or from a dealer? We assess it first. A specialist inspection, a written report, an honest opinion — before the hammer falls.

  4. iv.

    Brokering & Valuation

Our list of contacts isn't a short one. Discreet sale, considered acquisition, formal valuation — handled through the network the family has spent three generations building.
